Black Bottle was created by Gordon Graham, a Scottish tea blender in 1879 who noticed that the growing popularity of blended scotch whisky. In 1914 due to the shortage of black glass during Germany the bottle changed to a green bottle. This lasted until 2012 when after purchasing Bunnahabain and Black Bottle in 2003 the brand was relaunched in a Black Bottle with a blend that was as close to the original blend as possible.
Black Bottle Scotch is a blend of single malts and grain whisky. The single malts include Bunnahabhain from Islay, Deanston from the Highland Region, Tobermory and Ledaig from the Isle of Mule.
